Iowa Cow War

The War that wasn’t

This is a true story from Iowa in the 1930s. TB-infected meat and milk were making people sick. The federal and state governments passed laws to protect the public but in the process, the farmer was forced to suffer significant loss when their animal was identified as infected. A small group of Iowa farmers chose violence and threats against local police and veterinarians. The Iowa governor's hand is forced and the Iowa National Guard is called out. Complicating matters is a con artist that provides false and misleading information which fans the fires of the angry farmers.
